Letter from the President -

Imaging centers and hospitals across the country are reporting a significant decline in the number of women getting screening mammograms this year as a result of a single pronouncement by a federal Preventative Medicine Task Force issued last November declaring screening for women between the ages of 40 and 50 years of questionable value.

The radiologists, technologists, and nurses of DRA Imaging, along with our colleagues in all other relevant specialties practicing in the Hudson Valley, the American Cancer Society, and even the United States Surgeon General and Secretary of Health and Human Services strongly urge patients to ignore the new guidelines as ill-informed and misleading. Multiple well-documented and designed medical studies have shown the effectiveness of mammogram screening in this age group. The 20% decrease in mortality from breast cancer is at least partially due to the aggressive imaging screening instituted decades ago.

Don't put your life or the life of a loved one in danger because of a single cost-cutting initiative issued by an obscure non-medical regulatory group. Click here for more information.
