Multislice Computed
Tomography

What is Mutlislice Computed
Tomography?

Computed Tomography is a
sophisticated x-ray imaging technique that lets physicians
look at anatomy deep inside your body. It is sometimes referred to as a
CAT scan. During the exam, a CT x-ray tube and detector will rotate
rapidly around you taking many images of your body in just seconds. The
computer then processes this information into multi-dimensional images
representing cross-sectional slices of your anatomy, much like slices in
a loaf of bread.
DRA Imaging, P.C. now offers the
most advanced form of computed tomography called multi slice CT
scanning. Our multi-slice CT scanner now allows studies to be done
faster, with higher resolution, better detail and increased computer
manipulation capabilities, all of which contribute to enhanced
diagnostic capabilities. This scanner provides the capability to
perform CT Angiography as well as 3D reconstruction imaging with the
ability to subtract out any metal artifacts which in the past would have
limited the ability to view the image. |

What Happens During the
Procedure?
CT exams are non-invasive and
completely painless. You will lie on a padded table, which will move
into the scanner until the area under study is properly aligned. The CT
technologist will provide you with specific instructions needed for your
particular examination. For example, you may be asked to hold your
breath during portions of the scan to prevent blurring of the image or
you may be given an injection of a contrast agent or asked to drink a
liquid that makes specific structures stand out more clearly on the
images. In any case, you can be sure you are receiving the very finest
diagnostic services.

Who will Perform the
Exam?
Only Radiologic technologists
registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
specializing in computed tomography will perform these exams.

What are the
Preparations for the Exam?
Your pre-exam preparation will
depend upon the type of exam your doctor has requested. Some studies may
require fasting prior to the exam. You may be asked to change into a
patient gown or to remove all jewelry. Other studies may not require any
special preparation.
Be sure to ask your physician about
any special instructions he or she may have. Please feel free to give us
a call if you have any questions.

Advanced
Applications within today's CT Scanner
As always, DRA Imaging, P.C. is
pleased to bring the latest and most advanced technology into the Hudson
Valley, and with that in mind we are proud to introduce CT Virtual
Colonoscopy and CT Coronary Angiography.

|
|
|
|
|

What is CT Virtual Colonoscopy?
With the assistance of the CT
machine to perform Virtual Colonoscopy patients can have a quick,
accurate and non-invasive alternative to colon exams. This new
technology is less invasive then conventional colonoscopy and allows the
physician to view both two and three dimensional imaging.

What is CT Coronary
Angiography?
The Most Advanced
Non-Invasive Heart Scanning Technology

A new technique called CT Coronary
Angiography (CTA) can visualize, localize and quantify the
earliest possible evidence of coronary artery disease in only minutes.
CTA is much safer without the risks of invasive angiography. The exam
visualizes blood flow in the arterial vessels throughout the body and
discovers plaque which could cause a heart attack.

When Will My Physician
Know the Results?
Upon completion of the exam, a
board certified radiologist will interpret the exam. A report will be
sent to your physician. All reports are also available by fax or
immediately by phone when requested by your physician.
