   Bone Densitometry

  What is Bone Densitometry?

Bone mineral densitometry uses very low dose x-rays to measure changes in bone density to determine the presence or absence of osteoporosis. This is accomplished much earlier with Bone Densitometry than with the conventional X-ray system. This highly sensitive system has aided in making the treatment of bone mineral density loss much more successful.

  Who will Perform the Exam?

At DRA Imaging, P.C., Radiologic Technologists licensed by the ARRT (American Registry of Radiological Technologists) perform all exams.

What are the Preparations for the Exam?

No special preparation is required other than you may not have a nuclear medicine study within three days of a Bone Densitometry.

When Will My Physician Know the Results?

Upon completion of the exam, a Board Certified Radiologist will interpret the procedure and a report will be sent to your physician.
